    NEWS:

Another Alaska oil project could be shelved for environmental issues

Conocophillips's Willow project in Alaska could be shelved after the federal government released a highly anticipated environmental analysis.

In the analysis, the U. S. Bureau of Land Management (Bureau of Land Management) listed five options for the project that Conocophillips acquired in the early 1990s. One alternative is to build five drilling sites and build various infrastructure. Another option recommends reduced drilling sites and infrastructure, with a more limited environmental impact.

The worst news for Conocophillips is that the BLM does not approve the entire project, another of the five options proposed by the agency.

During Trump's presidency, the Bureau of Land Management approved Conocophillips' projects to develop the Willow Prospect in 2020. The US Administration of Land and Resources said at the time that the project could deliver 160,000 barrels a day, with reserves estimated at between 400 million and 750 million barrels a day. By 2019, the project is expected to reach 30 years.
