Schlumberger announced the launch of its GeoSphere3603D reservoir mapping while drilling service, the company's latest offering.
The service leverages advanced cloud and digital solutions to provide real-time 3D profiles of reservoir objects, the company said, noting that this improves reservoir understanding and improves well layout to maximize benefits from complex reservoirs.
An unnamed operator in the North Sea is also said to have used the GeoSphere360 service to integrate measurements from multiple scales, "enabling strategic geosteering decisions that help reduce uncertainty, maximise borehole layout and optimise production potential"."The GeoSphere360 service is the pinnacle of reservoir mapping while drilling and is the first of a series of digital technologies and services we will bring to market this year,"
TECHNIAL:
JesusLamas, president of schlumberger well construction, said in a company statement."Unlike traditional techniques, 3D reservoir mapping during drilling allows fluid bodies and faults to be identified at the reservoir volume scale, which is unique in the industry," Lamas added in the statement."
This is a transformative digital capability that improves reservoir understanding, optimizes well placement, increases reserves and production per well, and enhances field development decisions."Our customers can use fewer, higher-quality Wells, resulting in increased certainty and confidence, improved returns from complex reservoirs and reduced carbon intensity of field development."

In August 2021, Schlumberger announced the Optiq Schlumberger Fiber Solution, which the company said provides multi-domain distributed sensing capabilities for a wide range of energy industry applications and environments.In the same month, the company announced the launch of its PeriScopeEdge multi-layer MWD service, which claims to extend deep exploration range and improve resolution compared to existing services and introduces autonomous directional drilling, including a solution that autonomously navigates through any section of the wellbore.In June 2021, Schlumberger and IBM announced the industry's first commercial hybrid cloud enterprise data management solution for the OSDU data platform.Schlumberger said hybrid cloud services are designed to expand engagement with customers around the world, reduce analysis time and speed up decision-making.
